Since the Jet engine was first invented in 1930 the only real advances have been in the material science allowing for turbines and nozzles that can function with hotter combustion temperatures targeting a slim 10% efficiency window.
In the standard jet cycle, the turbine steals about 1/3rd of your stored fuel energy to drive the compressor. ATHENA is radically different and uses the advantages of Trident Fuel to invent a brand-new jet cycle that completely eliminates the need for a post-combustion turbine.
This means that right off the bat there’s a 40% efficiency gap that the ATHENA jet cycle maintains over traditional Jet engines. That gap is impossible to overcome for the traditional jet engine due to the physics of using traditional fuels. As a result, ATHENA and Trident Fuel will drastically increase the performance, range, and efficiency of aircraft and spacecraft to SPARK (pun intended) a new renaissance in creative engineering pathways for the next century of aerospace, industry, and exploration.
